JARMANN BOLT ASSEMBLY STEPS

(Of course, disassemble in reverse order...)

Step 1: Start by putting the extractor back onto the bolt body. It will go on easily, and swivel almost into place. You will have to use your strong thumb or a screwdriver to help it the rest of the way in.

Step 2: Next, slip the main spring onto the firing pin from the threaded end. (Note arrow pointing to protrusion on firing pin head.)

Step 3: Next, note that the protrusion on the head of the firing pin mates with a slot inside the bolt body

Matching up the firing pin protrusion with the slot in the bolt body, slide the firing pin and spring into the bolt body from the rear, and then slide the bolt handle onto the back of the firing pin and spring as shown in the image below.

Step 4: Using both hands, push the bolt handle and bolt body together, compressing the firing pin spring. With the spring compressed, turn the bolt body so that it locks into the bolt handle. Note the you can only do this by turning the bolt body one way (away from you when oriented as below) -- if you turn the bolt body the wrong way, the two parts won't lock together. This is not complicated, and becomes quickly obvious during the process.

Once locked together like this, the whole assembly will hold itself together -- with the firing pin compressed. (Arrow below shows the bolt body and bolt handle locked together.)

Step 5: Next, thread the cocking piece onto the firing pin threads -- but only for two revolutions! At this point, the assembly should look like the image below

Step 6: Holding the bolt body in one hand and the bolt handle in the other -- and holding them tightly together -- turn them so that they unlock again (the firing pin tension will cause them to "pop" apart by about 7/16th of an inch (~11 mm). Once unlocked, slip the bolt body away from the bolt head by about 1-1/2 inches (~38 mm) -- as shown in the image below. Also -- at this point -- make sure that the firing pin locking screw in the end of the cocking piece is loosened, removed, or at least turned/oriented so that it will not interfer with the rear end of the firing pin as it is threaded home.

Step 7: Slowly turn the bolt body, which will cause the firing pin to screw further into the cocking piece. Continue turning the bolt body until you can see that the end of the firing pin is flush with the end of the cocking piece. Line up the cut out in the end of the firing pin so that you can screw in the firing pin locking screw. Then pull back on the cocking piece and use it to turn the bolt handle so that it once again locks up with the bolt body. At this point the bolt is totally reassembled and ready to put back into your rifle.
