M1898 UNITED STATES KRAG

My M1898 US Krag long rifle (made in 1899) is a real beauty -- all original, matching, and with an excellent bore. Just right for low pressure, cast bullet target loads.

I shot this particular target (10-shots, 2.4" group) off a 100-yard bench at my home club: Library Sportsmen's Association in Library, PA.

My best load so far has been one I obtained from Bob Wright: a 170-grain Lyman #311291 bullet in 1:16 alloy, sized to .309" and Alox-lubed, over 15.0 grains of IMR-4759, CCI bench rest primers ("BR-2"), and R-P brass. OAL of about 2.82"."
